According to investigators, 80-year-old William Hill of Powder Springs was loading a commercial-size lawn mower onto a 1999 SLK 18-foot utility trailer, which was in tow by a green 2003 Jeep Wrangler. I-20 Bridge Work Continues This Weekend

ATLANTA -- The Georgia Department of Transportation will continue the emergency project to replace failing bridge joints on I-20 at Sweetwater Creek and at Six Flags Parkway west of Atlanta. However, this weekend's work will only be at Sweetwater Creek in the westbound lanes.

Two right lanes will be closed on I-20 westbound in the work area; the contractor is required to keep two lanes open at all times.

"Motorists should allow themselves a little extra time to get through the project area," said DOT area engineer Michael Hill.

The $5.1 million project will replace the bridge joints and includes deck rehabilitation as well. All work on the project will occur at night and on the weekends. Weekend hours are 9:00 p.m. Friday continuously through 5:00 a.m. Monday.

The overall project completion date is April 30, 2011.
