LOCAL PROFILE: Steve Stoute, founder of Transition

ATLANTA, Ga. -- Recently, Steve Stoute stopped by Spelman College to chat about his revolutionary take on the marketing world and a concept he calls “tanning”. Stoute started off as a road manager for hip-hop group Kid 'n Play and has since founded his own marketing firm, helped coin the McDonald's theme song and created his own firm, Translation LLC.

He has consulted for many of the top names in the music business and, a number of Fortune 500 companies, and he stopped by Spelman College to spread the word about his new book, “The Tanning of America”, which explains his theory on the redefinition of marketing.

ASO to honor Metro Atlanta music teachers

ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will hold an appreciation ceremony for more than 180 Atlanta-area music teachers Friday evening.

The teachers will be recognized at 7 p.m. by ASO president Stanley Romanstein. Afterward, the instructors will attend the evening's concert featuring the music of Rimsky-Korsakov, Rachmaninov and Mussorgsky.

ASO cellist Joel Dallow will also receive a special award from Romanstein for his arts education advocacy work throughout Georgia.

Both the 8 p.m. concert and the preceding reception will take place at the Woodruff Arts Center, 1280 Peachtree Street NE, Midtown.

During the luncheon, the university's College of the Arts will present this year's Flourish Awards. Launched in 2005, the awards are presented in four categories.

At the Chastain Park Amphitheatre HLM Worldwide and Soul Headphones by Ludacris will host a concert called “The Reunion” with The Isley Brothers, El Debarge and Carl Thomas. The concert will be hosted by Idris Elba on Saturday afternoon.

Take your family to see one of the greatest spectacles, presented by the Cirque de Soleil Company. Dralion infuses the “ancient Chinese circus tradition and the avant-garde approach of Cirque du Soleil production”.
