Six Flags Atlanta president to retire | Business
AUSTELL, Ga. -- Six Flags Atlanta President Melinda Ashcraft has announced her retirement.
The theme park said Monday that Ashcraft will be succeeded by Dale Kaetzel, who most recently served as president of Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, Calif.
Ashcraft has been with Six Flags for 45 years, beginning her career as a ride operator at Six Flags Over Georgia the year the park opened. She recently became the fifth recipient of the Six Flags Angus G. Wynne lifetime achievement award.
"When I began my journey at Six Flags Over Georgia, I never thought I would be where I am today. It has been a wonderful privilege," Ashcraft said in a statement. "There are exciting plans on the horizon for the Six Flags Atlanta properties. I look forward to cheering Dale on as he leads our team to even greater heights."
Six Flags opens for its 2013 season on Mar. 16.
