Eat at Chili's to support Wounded Warrior Project

(WXIA) -- In honor of Veterans Day, Chili's is giving customers an easy way to support the Wounded Warrior Project.

On Sunday, Nov. 10, Chili's diners have the option of donating 10 percent of their checks to the charity, which supports injured military personnel and veterans.

Simply download the flyer from the Chili's website and present it to a server to make a donation.

Vets and military members who eat at Chili's on Veterans Day -- Monday, Nov. 11 -- will be treated to free entrées.

AUSTELL, Ga. -- Today's random act of kindness is for Dr. Richard Gray.

As we continue to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we celebrate this morning with a random act of kindness for a devoted doctor who is helping one patient in particular for 20 years and counting.

Rebecca Liggin is a breast cancer survivor, and thanks to Dr. Gray has gotten through every hurdle so far. Rebecca wanted to show Dr. Gray how much he means to her, so 11Alive stepped in to help give him a random act of kindness.

AUSTELL, Ga. -- McDonald’s and Six Flags Over Georgia have teamed up this summer to benefit Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Discount coupons are available while supplies last at participating McDonald’s restaurants in the greater Atlanta area that offer up to $20 off of admission to Six Flags Over Georgia through Oct. 27 and $10 off admission to Six Flags White Water through Sept. 2.

The coupons can be redeemed online at www.sixflags.com/overgeorgia or at any ticket window. A portion of the ticket sales go directly to Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities to benefit families of sick and injured children.

NORCROSS, Ga. -- Today's Random Act of Kindness is for Silvia Barbuto.

Silvia works for Mundo Hispanico Newspaper as an advertising assistant and is very dedicated to her team. She always comes to work with a positive attitude despite all the stress that comes with the job. 

In addition to taking care of others at work, Silvia is a single mother of four as well. She is a wonderful mother very deserving of a random act, so thanks to some help from our friends at Six Flags Over Georgia 11Alive was able to help surprise her.

(WXIA) -- CNNMoney has unveiled its 2013 list of the Best Places to Live in the U.S.

Two metro Atlanta towns -- Suwanee in Gwinnett County and Peachtree City in Fayette County -- made the list of 50. But other locations had much lower housing prices.

Two more Atlanta suburbs made another CNNMoney list: the 25 towns where homes are most affordable.

At No. 4, Powder Springs offers homes for a median price of $85,000.

According to CNNMoney:

Families love Powder Springs's charming downtown and pleasant quality of life. They also appreciate its reasonable real estate prices: Three-bedroom homes are on the market here for $75,000 or less.

Residents invited to celebrate 10 years with East Cobb Park

MARIETTA, Ga. -- East Cobb Park will soon reach its tenth anniversary, when all local park goers are invited to help celebrate. 

The green space is located in the heart of East Cobb, at 3322 Roswell Road in Marietta. The celebration is scheduled for Saturday, July 13, from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. 

The Friends of East Cobb Park will honor the park's founders and the Cobb Civitan Club with food, refreshments, inflatable toys, guest speakers and a DJ playing live music. 

All ages are welcome.

AUSTELL, Ga. -- A Cobb County Chick-fil-A will host a fundraiser for Tripp Halstead's family this week.

East West Church in Marietta has teamed up with the restaurant on Austell Road to raise money for the toddler's medical bills.

On Thursday, June 27 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., 20 percent of the Austell Chick-fil-A's proceeds will go to Tripp's family. Customers will also have the option of donating directly; checks should be made payable to the Halstead family.
