KENNESAW, Ga. -- A 22-year-old Austell woman has been charged with shooting a Kennesaw State University student to death last year.

Sparkles Lashayla Lindsey is accused of killing Kimberly Kilgore near the entrance to a Kennesaw apartment complex on Oct. 11, 2013.

Lindsey faces a number of charges in Kilgore's death, including malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and firearm possession.

Cobb County police said the crime began as a road rage incident. When Kilgore tried to pull into the Shiloh Green apartment complex on Walton Green Way, Lindsey followed her.

Lindsey reportedly pulled out a gun and shot Kilgore. The 21-year-old college student later died at the hospital.

COBB COUNTY, Ga. -- Two Cobb County residents have been found guilty of participating in an elaborate forgery ring.

Alphonsus Idiku, 35, of Kennesaw was convicted Oct. 23 and sentenced to six years in prison. He will be deported to Nigeria after completing his sentence.

On Wednesday, 31-year-old Miesha Sanyell Hunter of Austell was convicted by a Cobb County jury.

Both defendants were charged with six counts of identity fraud and four counts of financial transaction card fraud for their part in what Cobb County Assistant District Attorney Hannah Palmquist called "a window into a larger and more sophisticated forgery scheme."

POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. -- Cobb County police believe a man found dead in Powder Springs was murdered.

The victim, David Scott, was found Tuesday afternoon inside a house on Glendora Drive.

Police will not release the cause of death until the Cobb County Medical Examiner performs an autopsy, according to Cobb County Police Sgt. Dana Pierce.

No suspects have been named.

AUSTELL, Ga. -- Cobb County Police are still searching for the man accused of fatally shooting another man at an Austell apartment complex last week.

The shooting happened on Monday, Sept. 16 in a unit at the Riverside Apartment Townhomes on Twin Hill Road.

When investigators arrived, they found 27-year-old Terrence Washington dead of apparent gunshot wounds, according to Cobb County Police Officer Mike Bowman.

Police have issued a warrant for their shooting suspect, 41-year-old Harold Antonio Parks, charging him with murder, aggravated assault and firearm possession.

Anyone who sees Parks is asked to call 911 or Cobb County Police at 770-499-3945.

MABLETON, Ga. -- Four Cobb County residents have been indicted by a grand jury for killing a man outside a Mableton gas station.

Johnathan Anthony, Kemonta Bonds, Antonio Pass and Jekari Strozier are accused of beating and stomping 36-year-old Joshua Chellew, then pushing him into the path of a car on June 30.

The defendants were indicted Thursday. They face charges of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery and violating Georgia's Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act.

AUSTELL, Ga. -- A Cobb County teen has been charged with shooting a beloved Austell woman to death.

The shooting happened at around 10 p.m. Monday on Oakhill Circle.

Family members identified the victim as 47-year-old Deidra Smith, a mother of two.

Cobb County Police Officer Mike Bowman said she was shot by 17-year-old Khalil Kelly. Kelly is being held without bond in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center on charges of murder and aggravated assault.

Police believe the shooting was the result of a fight. Investigators said Smith was an innocent bystander who was hit while trying to break up the fight. Some children were also struck and were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Suspect pleads guilty to beating elderly man

AUSTELL, Ga. -- A homeless man has pleaded guilty to beating a 71-year-old Austell resident to death.

Thomas Duane Sparks was convicted of malice murder Friday in the December 2011 death of Joseph Stahl. Charges of felony murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery and armed robbery were dropped as part of Sparks' plea deal.

He was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 30 years.

Cobb County Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Jesse Evans said Sparks once rented a room from Stahl. He killed the victim by hitting him repeatedly with a piece of wood.

Sparks, 50, claimed in court he was "real sorry" for killing Stahl.

Lisa McCloud, Stahl's daughter, spoke in court on her family's behalf. She called her father's death a "true nightmare."
