Teen accused of stabbing stepfather

POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. -- A 19-year-old Powder Springs woman is accused of stabbing her stepfather multiple times.

Shaquioa Crawford has been charged with aggravated assault for stabbing 51-year-old Vince Anderson in the arm, head and back.

Powder Springs Police Maj. Matt Boyd said Anderson was stabbed Sunday afternoon at a home on Powder Springs Road. Police found the victim trying to flag down traffic near the intersection of Powder Springs Road SW and Ponderosa Lane.

Investigators later learned Crawford stabbed Anderson during an argument, Boyd said.

Crawford is being held in the Cobb County Jail on $20,000 bond. The stabbing is still under investigation.

Human remains found in Jmaal Keyes investigation

HAWKINSVILLE, Ga. -- The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced Tuesday that evidence collected in the case of a missing college student turned out to be human remains.

The charred evidence was found last Friday near Cabero Road in Hawkinsville, Ga. The GBI said in a statement that the evidence was found in an area adjacent to the home where the 17-year-old suspect, Robert Kane Rolison, lived.

GBI officials uncovered the evidence while investigating the case of Jmaal Keyes, a Middle Georgia State College student from Hiram who vanished weeks ago.

McEachern HS teacher indicted for sexual assault

POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. -- A former McEachern High School teacher has been indicted for having sex with a student.

Terrance Tarpley, 34, was indicted Mar. 28 by a Cobb County Grand Jury.

According to information presented in court, Tarpley had sex with the female student on Jan. 15. He faces one count of sexual assault.

Cobb County D.A.'s spokesperson Kim Isaza said Tarpley violated a state law that prohibits teachers, principals and school administrators from having sexual contact with their students, even if those students consent.

Tarpley is currently free on bond. His arraignment date has not yet been set.

POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. -- A teacher and coach at a private school in Cobb County has been charged with molesting one of his students.

Robert Carlysle Cartwright Jr., 46, was arrested Mar. 27. He is a teacher and coach at Midway Covenant Christian School in Powder Springs.

Paulding County Sheriff's Cpl. Ashley Henson said Cartwright molested a boy at his Douglasville home last November. The victim is a student at Midway Covenant Christian School and played on several sports teams that Cartwright coached.

Investigators in Cobb and Paulding counties are now looking into the possibility that Cartwright had more victims.

Austell CVS robbed

AUSTELL, Ga. -- Cobb County police say an Austell pharmacy was robbed Monday night.

The incident happened shortly after 9 p.m. at the CVS at 800 East West Connector.

Witnesses said two men burst into the CVS and demanded money from the cash register. As one suspect took cash, the other stood by the door and acted as a lookout, according to Cobb County Sgt. Dana Pierce.

They left the store in a silver sedan, which investigators believe was parked behind the building.

The two suspects are described as black men in their late teens or early 20s.

2 charged in Zaxby's robbery

POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. -- Two Douglasville residents have been arrested for a fast food restaurant robbery earlier this month.

Forty-year-old Scott Ray Chastain and 46-year-old Stanley Ray Chastain were both charged with robbery in connection with the Feb. 7 incident at the Zaxby's on Brownsville Road in Powder Springs.

Powder Springs Police Maj. Matt Boyd said the Chastains hit the restaurant right as it opened for the day. One of the suspects demanded cash from the register. After receiving the money, he ran to a getaway car, where the other suspect was waiting.

Scott and Stanley Chastain also face charges for a similar robbery in Hiram on Feb. 6, Boyd said.

Cobb County Waffle House robbed

MARIETTA, Ga. -- Cobb County Police are trying to identify two suspects who robbed a Waffle House over the weekend.

The robbery happened at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday at the restaurant on Austell Road near the Marietta-Austell line.

Witnesses told police the two men demanded money from the Waffle House cashier. After receiving cash, they ran from the store, according to Cobb County Police Officer Mike Bowman.

The first suspect is described as a black man in his early 20s, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a blue bandana covering his face. He was armed with a semiautomatic handgun.

Bowman said the suspect was also a black man in his early 20s wearing darking clothing and a blue bandana over his face.
