Six Flags Fright Fest is back and spookier than ever

AUSTELL, Ga. -- Metro Atlanta's largest Halloween event is back with even more terrifying thrills for the whole family.

Presented by Snickers, Six Flags Over Georgia's Fright Fest includes the return of the Terror Train, the award-winning show "Dr. Fright's CarnEVIL" and plenty of brand new attractions.

The park runs under a "thrills by day, frights by night" rule, which means that everything is perfectly safe and non-scary for guests under age 13 before sundown. Pumpkin patches, arts and crafts, trick-or-treating and scary story time will all take place inside Bugs Bunny's Spooky Town.

Other attractions for families include:

* Kids' costume contest at the Bugs Bunny World Theater

* Looney Tunes After Dark -- late-night Halloween cartoons in Mariner's Cove

* McBoogles Hanson Cars, a silly and spooky family of ghosts who take guests for a drive

* Bad Bob the Bone Butcher, a classic Six Flags show

* Mr. Six's Spooktacular Dance Party, where ghouls and goblins dance the day away to frighteningly fun songs

* Percy Proton's Mad Science -- an educational and entertaining look at the world of science

But once the sun goes down, Six Flags transforms from a theme park to a "scream" park with a host of terrifying attractions:

* The Terror Train -- new in 2011, this railroad ride takes guests to an old gold mining town known as Bloodtown, as it was the scene of a gruesome murder in the early 1800s (additional fee required)

* Dr. Fright's Frightorium -- step into the haunted former home of an evil doctor who experimented on his patients with one goal in mind: to bring his wife and daughter back from the dead (additional fee required)

* The Last Ride -- experience what it's like to be buried alive as you climb into a coffin and take your last ride to the graveyard (additional fee required)

* Road Rage Cage -- new in 2011, these are no ordinary bumper cars; they travel through fog and flashing lights as heavy metal music plays

* Dr. Fright's CarnEVIL -- the award-winning Halloween circus show featuring freaky singers, dancers and specialty acts

* Freak Show -- discover the limits of what one man known as Captain Stab-Tuggo can do to himself

* Grouchy Griswold -- an insult comedy show with audience interaction

* Baron Von Vile Call to his Minions -- watch out for creatures that dwell in the shadows, as they only answer to Baron Von Vile

* Club 13 -- new in 2011, this is the hottest place to be when the sun goes down; DJ Marcos P spins house and techno mixes on the Dare Devil Dive Stage every Friday and Saturday night during Fright Fest
