Spring Break, Christian Music Weekend return to Six Flags

AUSTELL, Ga. -- Not going anywhere for Spring Break? Six Flags Over Georgia is offering plenty of fun that's not far from home.

The park will be open every day this week from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. with extended hours of 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday.

Come out on Thursday, Apr. 5 to sample the new Doritos Locos Tacos from Taco Bell, which will be offered from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Six Flags and country music station Kicks 101.5 will welcome a special guest to the park on Thursday -- Casey James, who placed third on the ninth season of "American Idol." James just released a self-titled album which features the hit song "Let's Don't Call It a Night." He will perform at 2 p.m.; the concert is free with park admission.

ATLANTA -- Metro Atlanta residents have plenty of opportunities to give blood to the American Red Cross between now and the summer.

An up-to-date list of donation times and locations can always be obtained by entering a zip code at redcrossblood.org. Several blood drives have already been scheduled in Austell and Powder Springs:

State of the County address, breakfast to be held Jan. 9

COBB COUNTY, Ga. -- Cobb County Commission chairman Tim Lee will give his annual State of the County address during the Cobb Chamber of Commerce First Monday Breakfast.

Anyone is invited to attend the breakfast, which will begin at 7:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.

RSVP no later than noon on Thursday, Jan. 5 at www.cobbchamber.org. The cost is $25 online or $40 at the door for Cobb Chamber members; it is $60 for non-members to attend.

The State of the County address will be available online at cobbcounty.org/tv23 beginning Tuesday, Jan. 10.

The Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre is located at 2800 Cobb Galleria Parkway.

ATLANTA – There are tons of fun events going on this weekend, in your area. We’ve listed a few of them for you to check out with your family and friends.

Pop singer, Gavin DeGraw will be performing at Atlantic Station’s “Winter Wonder Jam series. Atlantic Station will host a free concert series, which will conclude on December 23. The series has featured popular acts like: Sister Hazel and Citizen Cope, over the past couple of weeks. Attendees can text JAM to 57682 the week of each show to find out who plays next. The concert will be held at Atlantic Station’s Central Park.

The Atlanta Hawks will be holding an Open Scrimmage on Friday night from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Highlight Factory.

Police officers to take local children shopping for holidays

AUSTELL, Ga. -- The 24th annual Cops & Kids holiday shopping event will be held Wednesday, Dec. 14.

The program, formerly known as Shop with a Cop, will begin at 8 a.m. at the Austell Target. Officials hope to help at least 150 local children and their families through the event.

ATLANTA – There are tons of fun events going on this weekend, in your area. We’ve listed a few of them for you to check out with your family and friends.

The Gwinnett Braves will be hosting a Marines Toys for Tots Drive on Friday and Saturday at Coolray Field. The Braves want to make sure “as many children as possible” have a Merry Christmas. People can take their donations between noon and 3:00 p.m. and meet with former Braves pitchers Phil Niekro and Zane Smith and former Falcons defensive back Scott Case. For each new unwrapped toy you bring, the Braves will give you a ticket to exchange for an autograph. The Toy Drive will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
