Cobb Public health offering seasonal flu vaccine | Health
Title (Max 100 Characters)

Cobb & Douglas Public Health immunization clinic is going mobile in an effort to get annual flu vaccines to the community. In addition to offering annual flu vaccines to everyone six months and older at all public health centers, the health department is also offering them for local businesses and community events for groups of 20 or more people.
This year's flu vaccine includes protection against three different viruses: an H3N2 virus, an influenza B virus and the H1N1 virus that caused so much illness last season. The cost is $20 and children without health insurance and children with Medicaid PeachCare are eligible for a sliding fee. In addition to vaccination, individuals can also reduce risk of getting the flu by following a few steps:
Wash hands often with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand cleanser
Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth
Stay home when feeling sick and keep sick children home
Do not share eating utensils, drinking glasses, towels or other personal items
Cover mouth and nose with tissue when coughing or sneezing, then put used tissues in trash and wash hands.
If you are interested in having the flu vaccine administered at your business or community event for 20 or more people, call Lisa Shadrix at 770-514-2307. For details, visit cobbanddouglaspublichealth.org.
