Six Flags, White Water unveil new rides | News
AUSTELL, Ga. -- Six Flags Over Georgia and Six Flags White Water will each unveil a new thrill ride next year, the parks announced Thursday.
"We are beyond excited to debut these new thrilling attractions at our parks next year," Six Flags Atlanta president Melinda Ashcraft said in a statement.
Six Flags Over Georgia will add SkyScreamer, a swing ride. Six Flags Atlanta spokesman Brad Malone said SkyScreamer spins in a 98-foot circle at 40 miles per hour. At 24 stories, it is a full four stories taller than the Austell park's current tallest ride, the Goliath roller coaster.
Typhoon Twister will debut at Six Flags White Water in Marietta. The ride begins with a five-story drop into a 67-foot bowl; riders circle the bowl several times before spinning down a corkscrew chute and splashing into the pool below. Malone said Typhoon Twister is the first ride of its kind in Georgia.
"SkyScreamer will take thrills to new heights at Six Flags Over Georgia, and Typhoon Twister is sure to make a splash at Six Flags White Water," Ashcraft said. "The 2013 season will be another exciting year for our parks as we continue to provide innovative rides, shows and attractions for our guests."
Both rides are scheduled to open in late spring.
