Cobb County Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department will be hosting the Second Annual Cobb Summer Camp Expo 2012 on Saturday, March 17.

This event will be held 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Cobb Civic Center from . The Summer Camp Expo is your one-stop shop for summer camp programs for your children. You will find information about day camps, art camps, church camps, overnight camps, performing art programs, tennis camps and much more.

Admission is free.

Chattahoochee Tech finishes No. 1 in coaches' poll

MARIETTA, Ga. -- Chattahoochee Tech's football team has been named champion of the National Club Football Association in the league's final coaches' poll released this week.

The Golden Eagles finished with 141 total points in the final poll, including seven first-place votes.

The National Club Football Association is a division of Collegiate Club Sports Leagues, a national organization that oversees college club sports.

Chattahoochee Technical College has had a football program for two years. It is the largest technical college in Georgia with an enrollment of more than 13,000 and has eight campus locations serving Bartow, Cherokee, Cobb, Gilmer, Paulding, and Pickens counties.

Hillgrove High senior named Gatorade Ga. Football Player of the Year

POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. -- A Hillgrove High School student-athlete has been named the 2011-2012 Gatorade Georgia Football Player of the Year.

Senior Kenyan Drake joins a fantastic legacy of talented players, including last year's winner, Brian Randolph of Marietta's Kell High School.

The 6-foot-1-inch running back led the Hillgrove Hawks to the second round of the Class 5A postseason in 2011. Drake is also a baseball star with a 3.23 weighted GPA, and serves as a volunteer coach for local youth camps.

"Drake is a great young man with tremendous work ethic and drive," said Shane Queen, head coach of Hillgrove rival North Cobb High. "He is one of the best players that I have coached against in 18 years. He is a man of great character and does well in the classroom. If there is a better young man, player or role model, I would love to see him."

Traffic impacted this Sunday due to Atlanta Marathon

 

Expect road closures on Sunday as runners discover Atlanta one mile at a time at the Atlanta Marathon and Marathon Relay on Sunday, October 30, 2011. The 26.2 mile urban course starts and finishes at Atlantic Station taking participants on a tour of Atlanta past well-known Atlanta sites and neighborhoods such as Georgia Tech, Centennial Olympic Park, Georgia Aquarium, Turner Field, Grant Park, Oakland Cemetery, Martin Luther King Center, Piedmont Park, Buckhead and the famous Peachtree Road.

AUSTELL, Ga. -- Think you have what it takes to feast on live Madagascar hissing cockroaches?

If you can stomach this delicacy, you could also win a 2012 season pass to Six Flags Over Georgia.

On Saturday, Oct. 15, Six Flags will open its Café Du Cockroach to the few brave souls who dare to dine there. Anyone who would like to take a bite out of a roach, or would simply like to watch others try to master a plate of the crawling creatures, is invited to visit the park's Mariner's Cove Theater at 6 p.m.

Six Flags is currently in the middle of its annual Fright Fest, a Halloween-themed series of events that offer "thrills by day and fright by night."
