Douglasville CVB offering discounted Six Flags tickets

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. -- The Douglasville Welcome Center has begun selling Six Flags tickets for only $30.

Regular admission to the theme park is $49.99, so anyone who buys from the Welcome Center will save nearly $20 on a day of fun.

The tickets are good for all the typical Six Flags summertime events.

Volunteers needed for Cobb Meals on Wheels

COBB CO., Ga. -- Cobb County is fortunate to have a fantastic Meals on Wheels program, which ensures that homebound seniors received hot meals every day.

The program, which prepares and delivers more than 220 meals a day, desperately needs volunteer drivers in Austell, Kennesaw, Mableton, Marietta, Powder Springs and Smyrna.

The much-appreciated Meals on Wheels volunteers make sure that their clients feel special by personally bringing them the hot, delicious meals.

Anyone who is interesting in "adopting a route" should contact Cobb Senior Services at 770-528-5381.

AUSTELL, Ga. -- The Starburst® Summer Concert Series at Six Flags Over Georgia continues this weekend with a concert from Shiny Toy Guns.

With a Grammy nomination for their debut album, We Are Pilots, Shiny Toy Guns quickly rose to the top of the indie/rock industry.

Season of Poison, their second album, features two singles that peaked within the top 30 on the alternative charts in 2008. The band's newest album, III, will be released later this summer.

Doors to the concert will open at 5:15 p.m.

AUSTELL, Ga. -- Six Flags Over Georgia will open its gates early for a good cause this Sunday.

The Southeast's largest regional theme park is teaming up with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals to host "A Walk in the Park," a family-friendly morning of raising money and making a difference.

Registration for the 3K walk will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 12, with the walk scheduled to start at 8:30.
