Six Flags Over Georgia hosting job fair

AUSTELL, Ga. -- Six Flags Over Georgia is hosting its 2016 job fair on Saturday.

The Cobb County theme park is seeking to hire 3,000 employees in all positions, including ride operators, food services, park services, guest relations staff, front gate staff, security and more.

All applicants must be at 16 years of age or older. Those who are interested must apply online first at www.sixflagsjobs.com. Qualified applicants will then be asked to sign up for the job fair on Saturday or for a job interview at a later date. Once completed, the park will release the location of the job fair this Saturday.

The park will open for the 2016 season on Saturday, March 12.

Suspect accused of Tasing officers recovering after being shot

AUSTELL, Ga. -- An Austell man shot by police after he allegedly attacked officers with a Taser is recovering at a hospital.

The incident happened Sunday around 10:25 a.m. at a home in the 2700 block of Whitewater Court in Austell. Officers were responding to a domestic disturbance call.

Police told Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents that the man, identified as 31-year-old Timothy Duffy, became agitated as officers talked with him. His behavior continue to escalate, police said, and he then allegedly attacked an officer. An officer fired a Taser at Duffy. During the struggle, Duffy managed to take a Taser from one of the officers and fired it, hitting the officer multiple times, police said.

'Plan B' pill stolen from CVS in armed robbery

COBB COUNTY, Ga. -- Police are looking for help identifying a man accused of stealing "Plan B" from the CVS Pharmacy in Austell.

According to police, a male entered the pharmacy around 5:40 a.m. Thursday and asked about "Plan B" medication. "Plan B" is the emergency medication women can take if their regular birth control fails.

After looking at the medication, the subject then "fled the business on foot without paying," according to a release.

An employee told police he started pursuing the suspect but stopped when he pointed a gun.

The suspect's description is as follows:

  • Height - 5'11 - 6'00
  • Light complexion
  • Wearing a sweatshirt, green and black shorts, green and white sneakers with red laces, and a blue and white beanie-style hat.

Man sentenced on child sex trafficking charges

COBB COUNTY, Ga. -- An Atlanta man accused of trafficking teenage girls in prostitution was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Wednesday.

According to Cobb County District Attorney Victor Reynolds, 32-year-old Khiry Price pleaded guilty to 16 counts, including three counts of trafficking a person for sexual servitude, one count of child molestation, one count of statutory rape, two counts of pimping a person under age 18, two counts of pimping a person under age 16, two counts of simple battery, three counts of interference with custody and two counts of enticing a child for indecent purposes.

Price admitted to enticing three girls, aged 14, 15 and 16, to perform sex acts for men at a motel on Six Flags Drive in Austell in December 2013, Reynolds said.

Three suspects sought in armed Austell drug store robbery

Police in Cobb County are looking for three suspects involved in the robbery of a drug store in Austell early Thursday morning.

The incident happened at a CVS Pharmacy at 800 East-West Connector around 2:30 a.m.

Police said that while two men held the employees at gunpoint, a third removed cash drawers from registers.

The suspects, who each wore ski masks partially concealing their faces, then fled the store on foot heading north on Hicks Road.

Officials report no injuries as a result of the incident.

Police have released basic descriptions of each suspect - all described as black males wearing black hooded sweatshirts, ski masks and black gloves.

The first was between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall. He was wearing, blue jeans, black sneakers and black gloves.

In addition to the ski mask, he was also armed with a black handgun.
